Our Faith Formation Department couldn’t provide so many meaningful activities to our children if it weren’t for the adults and teens who work so hard.
As volunteers at Good Shepherd, we’re happy to offer credit opportunities toward certification with the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Credits can be earned toward all three certificate levels: Basic, Intermediate and Master and with classes available throughout the year, it’s never been easier to earn a Basic Catechist Certification.

How to earn a certificate:
The catechist certification process includes 24 hours of “continuing-education-style” classes and seminars. Classes are generally interactive and engaging, and are usually taught in group settings. However, there are also, solo-study and online options available for anyone interested.
Programs:

1. FLIPS (all parent/adult FLIPS participants earn their certification during the Faith Formation year that they attend with their child.)
2. Attend an Archdiocese training day
– This year’s seminar day will take place on August 5th at Marist High School. There is a carpool and breakfast option for any attending catechists. There are usually 4-8 credits available on this day.
3. Attend our In-House Catechist Retreat on September 16th at Good Shepherd. There are 6-8 credits available on this day. We will also be celebrating our Catechists in Mass that evening.
4. Solo-Study/Online-study

-If you are interested in pursuing your certification in your own time or through an online process, please see Vicki to set up an individualized certification plan.
